HOST
Todd Snyder.
Classic menswear, refined for now
Todd Snyder is an American fashion designer whose namesake label brings contemporary tailoring and everyday clothing together.
From Iowa tailoring to a namesake label
Todd Snyder grew up in Ames, Iowa, and learned cutting and sewing at a local tailor shop. He studied textile and clothing design at Iowa State University, then worked across major American apparel companies, including Ralph Lauren, Gap and J.Crew. That experience shaped a design approach grounded in familiar wardrobe staples, improved through fabric, fit and construction. He launched his namesake menswear collection in 2011, building a brand around updated classics rather than novelty for its own sake. [1][2]
A designer and retailer
Snyder’s career has included both design leadership and retail concepts. Before his namesake collection, he launched Tailgate, a collegiate apparel line. His company describes the collection as drawing on American ruggedness, British tailoring, Italian ease and Japanese precision. The label has also developed physical stores as lifestyle spaces, with some locations combining retail with services such as tailoring, barbering or coffee. The Council of Fashion Designers of America records his recognition as a GQ Best New Designer in America and a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist. [1][2]
Recognition and collaborations
Snyder’s labels and collaborations have repeatedly brought traditional menswear references to new audiences. His official biography notes seven CFDA Menswear Designer of the Year nominations, a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist selection and WWD’s 2024 Menswear Designer of the Year recognition. The brand’s work continues to center on materials and fit, from Japanese denim to Portuguese cotton and Italian textiles. [1]
