Kitchen Concert

Todd English raised a wooden spoon while Todd Bowles held a duck whistle. The carrots bobbed before their cue, wearing bubbles like hats. A potato asked for a solo, then yawned halfway through it.

The peas watched from the rim as the soup found its own rhythm. The kitchen smelled so good that the bowls gave the orchestra a standing ovation before it had finished.

Carrots enter early

Todd English stood in a blue-tiled kitchen with a wooden spoon for a baton. Todd Bowles brought a duck whistle to conduct the soup orchestra. The carrots were meant to enter on beat four, but they bobbed up on beat two, each wearing a bubble like a tiny hat.

Todd English tried counting more loudly. The carrots bobbed faster. Todd Bowles signaled a timeout, and the peas rolled to the edge of the pot to watch. The wooden spoon tapped the rim; the broth answered with a simmer. A potato requested a solo, then forgot its part halfway through and improvised a yawn.

Todd English gave each vegetable its own musical moment. Todd Bowles led the duck-whistle finale, which sounded remarkably like a kettle greeting an old friend. The soup cooled just enough to serve, and the orchestra received a standing ovation from two hungry bowls. The carrot hats were saved for dessert, where they became the world’s smallest orange crowns.

Another Take in the Kitchen

Todd English counted the carrots in; Todd Bowles blew the whistle, and the peas rolled over to watch. The potato forgot its solo again.

They let each vegetable play when ready. The carrots got bubble crowns, the potato got a nap, and supper sounded like a kettle greeting a friend.

Spoon Symphony

Todd English lifts a spoon up high,

Todd Bowles lets the duck notes fly.

The carrots bob before their cue,

The sleepy potato yawns right through.

The peas applaud beside the pot,

The broth keeps time and warms the lot.

The bowls all cheer the final tune,

Then ask for seconds very soon.
