The Laugh Lab
Todd Glass and Todd Michael set a brass bell beside a garden path. Their tape measure curled up laughing at the first joke. A robin carried the giggle to the fence and answered with a chirp.
The bell rang when the laugh circled back. The watering can added a glug, and the tape measure claimed one inch of vacation. Nobody questioned its arithmetic.
A laugh takes the scenic route
Todd Glass built a brass bell tower to measure how far a giggle could travel. Todd Michael brought a tape measure and a very small clipboard. Their first laugh reached the garden gate, where it startled a watering can into tipping over. The tape measure curled into a spiral and refused to record anything while laughing.
Todd Glass told the tape a joke about a ruler with no sense of direction. The tape uncurled, then laughed so hard it measured the same inch six times. Todd Michael marked each one carefully. A passing robin heard the giggle and carried it to the next fence, where another robin answered with a chirp.
By afternoon, the bell rang from a laugh that had traveled all the way around the garden. The watering can joined in with a cheerful glug. Todd Glass called the distance “farther than expected”; Todd Michael wrote “one garden, plus a robin.” The tape measure requested a day off and was granted exactly one inch of vacation.
Measure That Again
Todd Glass told a joke; the tape measure laughed and recorded the same inch six times. Todd Michael carefully wrote down each result while a robin carried the giggle off.
The laugh returned from the far fence and rang the bell. The tape measure took its promised inch of vacation beneath a leaf. It had earned at least two.
Laugh Measure

The tape curls up in giggle knots,
A robin carries jokes to lots.
The brass bell rings around the yard,
The watering can applauds quite hard.
One inch of leave, the tape takes flight,
It rests beneath a leaf tonight.
